The last 25 editions, we have been carrying an Educational Feature series in conjunction with the Blastline Institute for Surface Preparation and Painting (BISP), on Surface Preparation and Paint Application. We really enjoyed scripting the lessons and happy to know that the series has been well accepted and now it’s time for a test. Just like the end of every semester. We hope our subscribers will enjoy writing the test and come out with flying colors. We hope to start a new series soon on a subject related to our industry. After all, it’s with skills that you master that can help you move ahead in life.

In this issue, we focus on high-performance, smart coatings wherein manufacturers are constantly introducing new coatings to keep up with the demand. Driven by the use of smart-coatings in a wide range of end-user industries such as automotive, transportation, aerospace and defence, marine, and building and construction, the smart coatings market is estimated at USD2.15 billion in 2017 and is projected to reach USD6.27 by 2022, at a CAGR of 23.87% from 2017 to 2022. The Asia-Pacific region is estimated to account for the largest share of the Smart Coatings Market in 2017 in terms of volume and value, and is also projected to register the highest CAGR during the forecast period, in terms of value.

There is also a feature close to my heart; health and the environment. The feature talks about the Silicosis – why it happens and ways in which to prevent it.

Besides, there are also the regular features, new products, industry news, case studies and product profiles as usual. Happy reading!!!
